Sometimes I could swear that they blame race for everything. Race causes you to be fat, race causes you to be skinny, race causes your skin to be oily or dry, race causes your skin to sunburn all the time, race causes you to be tall, race keeps you from growing real muscles, race this, race that. Race is not determined by genetics! IF you were to look at the genes of a white person next to a black person, you could not determine which was which. You could probably determine which one was tall, which one had certain family health records, blood type, stuff like that. But race is not genetically defined! Now acne is genetically defined. What you can use to treat it, not so much. Whether you are black, white, brown, yellow, green, or purple, you can use certain products like Acnepril. Most of the time what you use depends partly on your skin type. But that has nothing to do with race, but rather you. You could have oily, dry, red, etc skin no matter what your racial background! Now if you happen to be allergic to one of the ingredients or your body just doesn’t like something, it might not work. But it has nothing to do with your race! If you have a heart condition, the kind of medications that might be effective for you will probably depend partly on your family history, specific heart condition, eating habits, level of possible obesity, severity of the disease, etc, but not race! Frankly, I just get so sick of people blaming everything on well it’s bad genetics or it’s just my racial make up. The worst one for me is when they try to say well I’m fat because of my genes. I’m sorry, it’s easier for some people to lose weight yes. But ultimately, in 99% of the cases, you are fat because you eat crappy food, don’t exercise enough, and spend too much time for your body type sitting around. We all wish that we could have metabolism so high that we could down 3 extra large premium pizzas a day and still lose weight. But that doesn’t mean we should eat like that! Wishing won’t make it true. More recently, people have begun to blame it on their race. The only one I can understand is if people blame their acne on genes or hormones or something. You can definitely have a family history of higher excess oil production in your skin, raging hormones, worse acne. You can have family histories and genetic histories of certain types of acne outside of acne vulgaris that can produce severe disfigurement, etc. And for the ones outside acne vulgaris, such as acne conglobata, I honestly don’t know if anything, even Acnepril or Accutane can help you then.
